For nearly 30 years Michael’s drama work has seen him perform the role of Musical Director for many drama groups in the Norfolk/Suffolk region with shows as varied as Annie, the musical, a Songs From Broadway & West End summer season at a proper end of the pier seaside theatre, to a musical interpretation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream featuring music of the 60’s. He’s even been MD and played for a Songs From The Shows production staged in the famous Hippodrome Circus at Great Yarmouth.

Michael has been MD for three National Operatic & Dramatic Association award winning musicals; firstly Godspell in 2000 (Best Production, Eastern Region (area 5) then Moby Dick – The Musical in 2004, (Best Musical, Eastern Region (area 5) both productions with the now sadly disbanded South Norfolk based drama group Spotlight Players of which Michael was one of the founding members. In 2007 he was MD for the outstanding production of Jekyll & Hyde – NODA award Best Production, Eastern Region (area 6) staged by the Mere Players also based in South Norfolk.

Although Michael doesn’t have much time to MD anymore his passion for theatre continues and he tries to get to see as many productions as time will allow and hopes, that if time allows, there’s still time for another show for MD to MD!
